circularidade

I am Donelle McWhorter, known as Dr. Dourada, because I am also a professora of capoeira- the Brazilian cultural practice- with a PhD in anthropology. I have worked in Brazil since 2003, with international development in under-resourced communities using capoeira as a tool to heal trauma. After years of research in social psychology, trauma, colonization, and systemic violence, I have come to the conclusion that what the world needs now is reconnection- to ourselves, our communities, and the living beings of our amazing planet.

circularidade

The name “circularidade” is inspired by Antonio Bispo dos Santos (Mestre Nego Bispo), a native quilombola from the northeast of Brazil, who explains what it means to live circular in a modern society that colonization has made linear. It is the essence of an organic life, created with cycles and connections, rather than competition and polarity.
